Show featured image only on home page, not in post. How?

Using Baskerville (and very new to the current www.remarpro.com, Gutenberg, and all that). I have a home page that currently shows precisely two post links with title and excerpt, but no images. I’d like to be able to put an eye-catching image there, too. I tried the Featured Image thing that’s available on the Post editing page. It looks fine on the Home page presentation and AWFUL on the post itself…much TOO BIG.

I’d like to see an image on the Home page but NOT have it be present when a reader goes to the post itself. Obviously going the Featured Image route won’t do that.

I did see the Custom Excerpt option which I’m using. What I’d like is a “Custom Image” option that does something similar.

Suggestions, please.
