• Hi,
Sorry if you’ve already answered this for someone else but I can’t seem to find the answer. Basically, when I click on an event it takes me to a post with the event result displayed. Is it possible to set the result to appear on a page and not a post?

I hope that makes sense… and sorry if it’s a thick question.

    Thanks for the plugin btw!

    Mike.

    Hi Mike,

Do you mean when you click the event from the (full) calendar?

    Hi Stephen,
Many thanks for coming back to me on this.

    here’s what I mean…

If you click on Merseyside Hair Forum it takes you to a post template. I want it to go to a page where I can have the Events banner displaying and not a News banner which is my default post banner.

    I hope that makes sense.

    Thanks,
    Mike.

    Hi Mike,

This is because your ‘Events’ menu is associated to a ‘proper’ page (i.e. page post type), and WordPress doesn’t know that its meant to be linked to events.

You’ll notice in the settings there is a permalink setting for an ‘events’ page: https://www.gmlpf.net/events/event/. If you add the ‘Events’ link to the menu via the plug-in Settings, then it should correctly highlight ‘Events’ in the menu.

Of course, the default template for that page doesn’t seem to work with your theme – but that is fairly easy to fix: https://wp-event-organiser.com/documentation/editing-the-templates/. Specifically you’ll want to edit the archive-event.php template. Using your theme’s archive.php as a basis is the easiest way to proceed.

    Hi Stephen,
You’ll have to forgive my lack of knowledge with php but I don’t really know how to do this. I’ve got the Events page to be recognised and it then displays the resulting page but with all the event info with no template. I have no idea how to edit php so I’m a bit screwed on this one I think.

Thank you for taking the time to try and help me with this.

    Mike.
