show each post using the image in the post in a grid layout

Hello,

If each post has an image, what is the best way to show all posts in a category using that image or thumbnail and in a grid layout?

I guess its like a gallery but not really?

I am experimenting with the ecommerce plugin for wordpress but wondering if there is a better/faster way.
