“Show comments cookies opt-in checkbox” doesn’t seem to work with Seedless

Hey there @chrislt, can you share a link to the affected site so we can see what you’re seeing?

Sorry, I can’t yet, because the site is still in maintenance mode. I haven’t launched it yet.

Basically, when I turn on the setting “Show comments cookies opt-in checkbox, allowing comment author cookies to be set” (under Settings > Discussion), no checkbox (“Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment”) appears in the comments form under my posts.

Note: I’ve tried turning off nearly all of my plugins (bar Mailpoet, which I didn’t want to have to reconfigure) to see whether any of those were interfering with it, but that made no difference. No checkbox is visible in the comments area.

I’ve made some tests, and this checkbox appeared in both versions of the theme Seedlet (blocks and non-blocks versions)

In any case, I’ve tested it with other themes and the checkbox disappeared at some times. What I did to get it back was:

1. Switch to another theme
2. Disabled the checkbox in Settings > Discussions (clicked save)
3. Enabled it again (clicked save) and made sure the checkbox was showing up
4. Switch my theme to Seedlet

I’ve since decided I don’t want that checkbox anyway. (I’m trying to keep the number of cookies on my site to a minimum.)
