• Hello,

I’m managing my WordPress Categories on the “Categories” archive page in Dashboard. I am organizing the categories with nested multilevel subcategories. From time to time subcategories will show up visually nested on the Dashboard Categories page, like this:

    Reviews
    – Movie Reviews
    – TV Reviews
    – Business Reviews

But, when I refresh/save the page, the hierarchical display disappears. I remember that subcategories displaying under their parent categories used to be the default.

I don’t have any plugins that manipulate the Categories archive page. Is there a setting I need to adjust to change the display options? I’ve checked in the Screen Options menu to no avail. Also, I Googled but all that comes up is wrong results about how to display nested categories on the front end (WooCommerce pages and sidebars).

    Any help is truly appreciated.

Please note that forum volunteers do not have access to your website and should not. Sharing an admin link does not help us in any away for that reason.

Could you please share a specific category archive page(s) that experiences this issue?

We could likely help you better with that information.

Please also review any caching that may be in effect, specifically from an old plugin.

@swansonphotos Thanks for your reply. I know what an archive page is, but I’m not sure how that is relevant. I’m not on an archive page when I encounter the error. I’m in the admin portion that you get to through here:

Dashboard > Left Sidebar > Categories

Perhaps it would help to clarify where I’m at if I post a screenshot? Please tell me if I’m missing something. I’m always open to gentle correction.

As for the caching, I thought about that, but I don’t have any caching plugins installed, so I ruled that out. Would it help if I shared a list of all the plugins I’m using, or would that be unsafe in a public forum?
