Show certain categories

I have 2 categories on my blog. I want only one category to show up on the homepage and in the most recent post blogroll and the other category show up only on a “catalog” page and not have any listings in the recent post blog roll.

Also, is it possible to have the “catalog” category not be searchable if the visitor uses the search?
