(basically adding a rewrite rule I assume?)

Sorry, I have no idea about rewrite rules right now. Will have to study them soon I think ??

or maybe even easier, change it to the below?

I can change the “author” part to “by” by changing the author base, so that is ok. But how would I be able to use products (plural) instead of product (singular)? I do not want to change the CPT name to plural as it makes sense on the other urls, just not on author archives. There a plural would be nice.

Rewrite rules just scare me a lot!!

Ok, I added this snippet to my functions file:

 * Changes the author slug
 */
add_action('init', 'lw_change_author_base');
function lw_change_author_base() {
    global $wp_rewrite;
    $author_slug = 'by'; // change slug name
    $wp_rewrite->author_base = $author_slug;
}

But now neither: https://www.website.com/product/by/sascha
NOR https://www.website.com/product/author/sascha
work anymore. Both 404.

BUT: https://www.2013a.landwire.net/by/sascha/ works ok!
Any ideas?

Does the plugin not support a different author base as set with above code?
