Show all events on the first page

Hello all,
when i set [ecs-list-events limit=’9999′]
The first page still shows only 2 events.
To view the past events, i have to click the “View all events” button.
Is there a way to show really all events on the first page, no matter if they are in the future or past?thank you for any hints
