Show 1 post (most recent) on a *page*

Hi.

I have a site using WP — and the home page is a static page. There is a blog page that holds all the posts. I would like to display just one post (the most recent) on the WP home page.

However, if i try to put in “the loop” on the home page — it displays that page’s content instead of blog entries. I’m assuming this is because it’s a page rather than the blog.

Thoughts?
