• Hi Antoine

I’m not familiar with shoutbox? I presume online chat for users. I cant see anything in the help section. Do I need another plugin for this to work?

One feature request would be to know how many active users I have in the game before the competition starts. Just for peace of mind to know that scores are being added and I have interested users. I can then decide how much more promotion I need to do for the game.

A fantastic slick plugin, thank you. I’ll add a donation when I get back to work.

Shoutbox is a simple chat. I has a widget you can add to your page that allows logged in users to leave short messages.

How would you define an ‘active user’? I shouldn’t be too hard to make a screen that shows all users in the compitition with the amount of predictions they made. Or maybe a simple dashboard widget that just shows the number of users.

Ah I didn’t know you had widgets!

An active user would be a user with predictions placed.

Just a simple snapshot like this for future competitions would be good.
    Active Users : 175
    Predictions : 2000

I guess you could then list individual users & predictions too to see who those active users are, useful but not essential.

Just something to gauge the interest in the game prior to kick-off. I found out after kick-off that I had 175 customers playing. Which is good, just something I would have been happier knowing about in advance, so I could react if necessary.

Just one other small thing. You have links to the teams on ‘Matches’ but not on ‘Add predictions’ is that intentional? Actually, thinking about it, maybe you didn’t want to take them away from the form? You could open in a new window though.

    Anyway great plugin. Thanks

OK, so you would want a shortcode to show the numbers? So you can add the code to a page or post. That’s fairly easy. I will see if I can find some time next week to make one.

The links on the prediction pages are indeed left out intentionally for the exact reason you give. Would be very annoying if someone accidentally clicked away from the form before saving and lost his/her predictions.
New window/tab could be an option, but I don’t like new windows ?? Another option would be to implement background saving via AJAX calls. That way you would at least only have the risk of missing the last change you did.

That’s good, I think that would be a useful feature for the future.

What also might be useful, along similar lines, is to show the drop-off of users as the competition progresses. So matches played on an X Axis against players still predicting on the Y axis or shown via an equivalent table

That way at any point throughout the competition I could see the number of players still predicting/playing.

I’m coming at this from a marketing point of view so I could look at ways of preventing non performing players from stopping, by enticing them with spot prizes or an overall prize if they complete the game.

Just a thought as the latter might kill two birds with one stone.

    Thanks
