should it show a preview?

When you add a “Visual Link Preview” block you set a URL and it should then try to automatically retrieve the image, title and description for that URL and show that.

If it’s not able to load those details automatically, they can also be set in the sidebar.

i tested 2 different addresses, and they look like this:

At the bottom you can see the real adress, the other is my headline (O know, the same but I was only testing), but nothing more…

When manually setting the shortcode it cannot automatically retrieve the details, I’m afraid. You would have to set those yourself: https://help.bootstrapped.ventures/article/262-manually-construct-the-vlp-shortcode

O I c, well, I’m not using the blockeditor to create pages, I’m using elementor, is there anyway to use this with elementor?

I’m afraid the plugin does not have an Elementor block at the moment. The integration requires quite a bit of development and it’s still on the todo list.

Technically it would be possible to create the link in the Classic Editor and then copy the shortcode it generates to use in Elementor. But that’s obviously not ideal.

Wait a moment, so the “Scan” isn’t live, so it saves the “icon” on my system, and then displays it from there?

That’s correct. Getting the latest details every time would put too much strain on the external site.

Ok, then I understand how it works, but doesn’t that cause copyright issues with the images?
