Should I Wait To Use Multisite Until I Have A Dedicated Server?

    I am starting a business and have chosen wordpress for what will soon be 50+ websites. Multisite sounds perfect but the documentation I have found in the Codex has a lot of warnings about making any big changes after Multisite is setup for longer than a month.

    My question: If I get started with a simple web host that uses my https://www.domainname.com address and the subdomain (vs path) configuration of Multisite, will there be any trouble when I want to transfer the site to a dedicated server in a couple of months? The domain name won’t change at all, just the physical server.

    Any help would be most appreciated!

    None at all ?? You MAY need to re-do wildcard subdomain configurations on the new server, but generally when you move server to server on the same host, there’s no problem.

    It would be two different hosts. The first is HostGator and the second is SwiftWay. The later offers a CDN and streaming and streaming specific bandwidth which I will need a few months after the launch. What kind of dangers are there?

    Minimal.

    The wildcard DNS would certainly need to be-redone, and you may have to poke the file permissions on wp-content, but if the domain name isn’t changing, it’s really much the same as moving non-Multisite.

    I have no problem redoing permissions, changing name servers, and I planned on doing static subdomains (non-wildcard) I define myself. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t going to become broken somehow because the hardware on the host machine changed drastically or because I was switching between a shared hosting from dedicated hosting setup.
