• Hi everyone!

    I am in the design stage of my business and I am considering the possibility of using a multisite network. Some of the reasons for this choice include:

    1) In the future I want to translate my site to other languages and I read somewhere that a multisite is a better option for a multilingual site;
    2) My business will have multiple departments (academy, foundation, shop, etc) and I am thinking about creating a specific site for each of them;
    3) I will need different plugins (eCommerce, Multilingual, LMS, etc) and I read that this can sometimes overload the site a bit. So, in case this is true, I am thinking about including each of my business departments in a different subdomain to ensure better performance and ranking.

    I am new to the field of web development in general, and to WP in particular, so I am wondering if based on my reasons and what I want to achieve, a multisite will be indeed the best option for me. What is your opinion?

    When it comes to google rank, I think that a multisite network would allow me to focus mainly on the SEO of the root site of my network, which I would use as a storefront for my whole business and to generate traffic. What are your thoughts on this?

    Thanks!

    There are really only two reasons to use Multisite in my opinion.

    1. the sites are all going to use the same theme
    2. the sites need to share data between each other.

    It’s not inherently better for translation or SEO, and the number of plugins shouldn’t impact it either.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Yes @topher1kenobe, the sites would be using all the same theme. As for the translation, I think it will depend on what you want. For example, if you want to create a different site for each language (my case) then I suppose multisite would be a better option. However, I am not sure about SEO as I had already read some contradictory information.

    @merl11, I am not a developer nor a digital content marketer, but I was thinking of using a multisite for my private business.

    Ok, that actually sounds like a great use case for multi-site. It’s certainly one viable option for multi-lingual, and using all the same theme (and probably plugins?) makes it sound quite reasonable.
