• I’m running a Buddypress membership site where we’ve been having performence issues as of late, cache plugins have limited effect as our primary base is logged in users, which apparently is a difficult thing to cache.

I’m coming here because I want to know if it really is worth it to switch to the more expensive vps hosting, I have lower-middle levels of technical skills(I’ma newbie whose been doing it long enough to fake his way through it), what technical challenges will I face? Is this a good route for getting better performance? What else should I know.

Any guro knowledge would be appreciated. ??

If you do not have system administration experience, understand Linux, MySQL, and Apache, you should not get a VPS. If you need more horsepower, look into a managed WordPress provider.

I second what sterndata said. If you are on Bluehost regular shared, there is a “Cloud Sites” option that could be an option. There’s also a managed WordPress hosting option.

Cloud sites might be a better option for you.
