• Hi

I have just paid out £399 for an ipad2 so I can work on my websites whilst in front of the tv.

Not sure whether to keep it or not as having a few problems and was wondering if anyone knew a workaround/solution for them.

    1. First major problem is I can’t see images in the edit field. They only appear as HTML ?
    2. I keep all my docs on my pc and use network magic to access from various pc/lappys. My wife works on the sites as well so it is essential that we file sharing and file sharing from pc to iPad and back.
    3. Stupid little things like when I access analytics I can’t change the date range which is probably the most important thing and when on widgets page I can’t simply drag a widget across??? Why is that?

I also tried to justify the purchase by saying the kids could use it but they can’t play their online flash games either….mmmm

Despite the above I do want to keep it as it is a lovely piece of kit but at the moment just falling a bit short of justifying itself

Any views or advice would be great guys.

The editor that WordPress uses (TinyMCE) does not work in mobile browsers. Therefore, you will only be able to use the HTML editor, not the “visual” editor when working on your iPad.

    Use a utility like Dropbox.

Regarding the Flash games, search the app store to see if any of the games they enjoy exist as native apps. There are a lot of fun games for kids in the app store.

And, if you decide you really don’t want it anymore, I’ll buy it for $10 ??

    right….next question

just dropped an excel spreedsheet into drop box which has appeared in the ipad dropbox folder but it is not in excel on the ipad.

I cant add to the sheet or manipulate it in any way so pointless for my needs.

starting to thing the ipad is just an expensive diary/toy/browser that doesnt really have a lot of real functionality……

    thanks
    Baz

The iPad doesn’t have Excel. In order to work with Excel spreadsheets on the iPad, you have to use another app (something like QuickOffice), but even then, it doesn’t really work quite the way Excel does. It’s more akin to the way GoogleDocs edits Excel documents (so some of the formatting may be wrong).
