• Ok, so I am a meteorologist for a tv station and we are wanting to install a blog onto our weather page online. I don’t know what option would be good for us? Can anyone point me in the right direction? What all needs to be done to make it happen, does it cost, etc. Thanks

  • It is free–click on the Download at the top.

Does your stations server support MySQL and PHP? Ask your IT dept.

    Installing WordPress has instructions.

Yes it does… My IT person asked if we could FRAME it in our page???

You could but it is not a wise solution…

Can you expain to me why? I am not even sure what it means anyways, or what the other option is?

Let’s say you have a website at example.com
Now you add a blog in a subdir (wordpress or blog or whatever), which lives at the address: example.com/blog

Next, your IT guy takes the example.com/blog page and displays it in an iframe at example.com.
However, all the internal links in WP will go to where it is installed, i.e. “breaking out” from the frame and displaying whatever theme is installed at the /blog directory. So, clicking on anything (post title, comments link etc.) will take you away from that iframe.

Note: “themes” are the clothing of WP, the design that displays the content.
    examples of themes: https://themes.wordpress.net

EDIT. A better approach would be to build a theme that mimics the look of your existing website.

Ok. Our webpage is https://www.kspr.com/weather/blog Right now we are just posting things, but it is not a true blog, that is why we are looking at this here. I am wanting to mimic the weather blog found at https://www.wkyt.com/weatherblog How is that one setup ?

That’s in an ugly iframe… with a mile long empty space at the bottom. Just try to click on the title of an individual post and see it for yourself ??

Ok, I see the white space. But I like how the blog is right within the actual tv stations webpage. What can I do to make it like that but maybe without the white space? Any suggestions?

    Honestly, I don’t know. I never worked with frames/iframes.

I know how to take a website’s design and make into a theme – but that’s all I know. Your IT guy still might want to try the iframe solution, maybe he will succeed without that space…

Problem is, we really don’t have an IT person or I guess “webmaster”, just someone that hosts our page that answers questions for us. So basically I have to be the one to figure this out, which is why I am so many questions on what the next step is!

Here is an excellent weather blog (from the local ABC affiliate in Birmingham, AL). I don’t think it fits your frame requirements, but maybe it could give you some ideas.
