• I had “Anyone can register” accidentally turned on and now have a few hundred users set with “subscriber” rights. None are admins. Are they spammers? Should I delete them all? I have no way of knowing who is legit and who isn’t. Many have @outlook.com addresses instead of websites. If they are spammers, why aren’t there any spam posts on my site? Did the akismet spam service catch them? I don’t want to delete anyone who is a legitimate follower of my site.

This is for the mycrazyworkout.com website hosted on my GoDaddy account.

  • 1. A subscriber cannot create posts or pages. Please see Roles and Capabilities.
    2. A subscriber may be able to write comments. Check the comments section.
    3. Delete any ‘rogue’ comments.
    4. Your site (as linked to above) appears down at this time. Consult host.
    5. If registered users will have a role on your site, what role will it be?

Same problem. Who are all these “subscribers”? There are 4 or 5 daily, clearly automated usernames (eg, dozens of “[email protected]” or “[email protected]”, where the dashes are 2 numbers followed by a letter. No comments, no spam. If I trash them all, I may lose a few legitimate followers. Please advise. My site is adamsmolka.com
