    This is my first time.

I have installed WordPress 3.8.1 on Windows Server 2003 running IIS6.
It seems to be running fine.

However, if I attempt to run the install again by the following link for example:

    https://MyWebSite.com/wp-admin/install.php

    an install screen appears.

Should the install.php file be deleted and what should I do after the install? Please comment.

  • If installation went fine, you should be able to log in as the admin to your site at https://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin

If you go to https://MyWebSite.com/wp-admin/install.php you should get a message saying “Already Installed – You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

If you don’t get that message, then something seems to be wrong.

    Thanks senff.

I get the “already installed” message now.

I think the reason I did not get it before is that I ran the install test right after the installation without closing the browser.
