Shortlink in WP-Admin Bar is not working

I cannot reproduce this issue. On my test site, I see the same bit.ly link in the “Get Shortlink” button on the post-edit screen, the “Shortlink” entry on the admin toolbar in the admin, and the “Shortlink” entry on the admin toolbar on the front end.

Can you provide more information? What are the differing links? What other Plugins do you have activated?

On my site when I open any single post and click on shortlink in wp-admin bar then it’s showing wrong link ??

I am running into this same problem. It doesn’t matter which page I click the shortlink button in the admin panel, it just shows me a link to 1 particular post. When I click the shortlink on the post edit page it shows up correctly.

Here are the plugins I currently have active, as I know you asked the original poster.

Further questions:

1) What are the differing links? Do they resolve to the same URL, or to different URLs?
2) Do you experience the same problem with all Plugins deactivated?
3) What Theme are you using? Do you experience the same problem with a core-bundled Theme, such as Twenty Twelve, activated?

I tried swapping to Twenty Twelve and the admin link works, but when I swap it back it doesn’t. My theme is ancient as I’ve been long overdue to update, so my guess is that it must have something to do with that. The template is based off one called Twilight if that is of any use.

Yep, that observation would seem to indicate that the problem is with your Theme.

If you were using a Theme from the official Theme directory, I could probably offer some help; but I’m not finding a “Twilight” Theme in the directory.

For many reasons, it is a good idea always to use an up-to-date Theme. It might be time to try to find a current Theme that suits your needs. ??

Even though I use the bitly custom url shortner, the admin bar doesn’t show me the right short url (still using my domain name)
