• I’m using WordPress 4.6.1. and Jetpack 4.3.1.
A few months back, I got a message from a user that my RSS feed wasn’t working. It’s not malformed, it’s not throwing errors – it just doesn’t load until it finally times out.
I quickly identified Jetpack as the culprit (deactivating all the plugins, and turning them on one by one, etc) so I just had that deactivated so my readers could use the RSS.
However, all my Mixcloud-embeds wouldn’t work and of course the stats were dead.
Recently I activated Jetpack again, deactivated all the addons, and by process of elimination identified the shortcuts addon as the culprit. As soon as I turn that on, the RSS feed dies again.
As my RSS feed doesn’t throw me an error, I don’t know where to look for information on exactly where WordPress runs into a problem.
I’ve updated both WP and Jetpack a few times since this first started occuring without any change, and I’ve tried it with Twenty Fifteen and Twenty Sixteen as well as my own theme.
Can anyone help me shed a light on this?

    Best regards,
    Henrik Andersson

Thanks for the report! I had a look at your site, and I can see that your RSS feed is working at the moment. I also see that you have a few other shortcode plugins installed.

Could you try temporarily disabling all other plugins aside from Jetpack, and reverting to a default theme? Then, take a look at your RSS feed once again and see if the issue persists. If it does, could you let me know exactly where and how your RSS feed breaks?

Please let me know about the above, and we can go from there!

    Hi Ryan,

    thanks for your reply.

The RSS feed is working since I have disabled the Jetpack shortcodes. My readers need the feed since I run a podcast so activating it is not an option right now.
The other shortcode plugin is needed for the “spoiler” tag I use. I don’t think there’s an equivalent in the Jetpack shortcodes?
As I have described above, I have tried disabling all plugins, enabling them on their own, and then enabling the Jetpack addons on their own, etc and used both Twenty Fifteen and Twenty Sixteen with no success.
Do you have any other suggestion? Is there a log somewhere I can look at?

    Best regards,
    Henrik

    Thanks for the update, Henrik!

As I have described above, I have tried disabling all plugins, enabling them on their own, and then enabling the Jetpack addons on their own

Just to clarify, does the issue persist if Jetpack is the only enabled plugin? I suspect a plugin conflict is responsible, so if you can temporarily disable all other plugins aside from Jetpack, we can confirm or deny that.

This is correct. Deactivating all other plugins, and having only the shortcodes addon active in Jetpack, disables the RSS feed. I double checked just now.

Thanks for confirming! Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site? To do so, follow these steps:

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Scroll down to the bottom and click “Debug”
    3) Click the link that says “Click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in your name, email address, and the description box with a link to this thread.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

Then we’d be happy to look into this further. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
