    Hi,

I saw some of the documentation about using shortcodes which works fine for basic display of WPP on posts pages. But I am wondering if there are any more examples of shortcodes that can be used? For example, I really like the styled lists in the WPP widget options and would like to display these on a page or post. Is there any way to get the shortcode that will work to display (for example) the evergreen theme?

Would be awesome if the WPP widget had a “shortcode generator” that displays necessary shortcode after the preferences are set by the admin in the widget settings. This would make it so easy to copy and paste the (widget) shortcode into desired pages like a “Hot Topics” page that could be added to the main menu.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi @wordmax,

I like the idea of displaying a “shortcode” version of a given WPP widget. Problem is that there are some features/functionalities that cannot be ported over to the shortcode either due to how the plugin is currently coded and/or due to technical limitations. The newly introduced themes feature is actually one of such features. It’s not impossible to do, it’s just time-consuming and in some cases difficult to make them work reliably in a shortcode.

There’s also the fact that the WordPress team is planning to make everything -including widgets- a Gutenberg block so I’m hesitant to introduce any more new widget-related features at this moment only to discover that they’ll be a total pain to reimplement as a Gutenberg block later on. I’d rather wait a bit and see where things go. It might not even necessary to create a shortcode generator if the WordPress team can pull this off.

Nonetheless I truly appreciate the suggestion so thanks for sharing it.

Hi and thanks for your quick feedback.

I was able to use the “amr shortcode any widget” plugin to get a shortcode of WPP configured widget that I was able to insert into a page/post. It works great.

    Pretty cool.

Awesome, I’m sure this will be useful to other users in the future so thanks for reporting back.

    Hi Hector,

Maybe you can borrow some code structure (amr plugin) and make a Premium version of WPP plugin that will offer a “shortcode generator”. Put it up for sale on codecanyon for $5 or $7 you’ll probably make good sales there. Just an idea. Thanks.
