• Hello,

I’ve recently just started using premium wordpress themes and I noticed that most of these themes have built in shortcodes by the developer. They always explain what shortcodes they have included and what they can do, but they never explain the shortcode name, so that I can actually use them in my pages. Can you tell me what files I am likely to find the names of these shortcodes in?

    I really appreciate it!

  • please contact the sellers/developers of those individual themes.

the shortcode functions could be in any template or sub folder of the themes.

For the developer this is a massive oversight, they should appreciate you contacting them and pointing out that they’re missing key documentation!

For now, it might be worth going in functions.php and looking for ‘add_shortcode’. The developer may have put them in a separate file though. Have you tried looking for shortcodes.php or something similar?

Yes, I have tried to contact the developer but they have not gotten back to me. They’re help forum doesn’t seem to address the question either. It’s frustrating but I guess I’ll just try again.

And to CodeBotics I appreciate your understanding. And I have looked through all the files in the appearance -> editor menu. I couldn’t find anything there. I’ll take another scan… Is there anywhere else this file may be located (possibly a plugin)?

I really do appreciate both of your help.

I’m afraid I can’t really help without being able to see the files myself, which I can’t because it’s a premium theme. I apologise about this, because it’s developers like this which give myself and other good developers a bad name.
