My sites using NextGEN Gallery 3.2.23 on WordPress 5.3 are working fine, but when I update to WordPress 5.4 the NextGEN shortcodes stop working and instead pages are displayed with things like:

    [nggallery id=5]

    or

    [ngg src=”galleries” ids=”33″ display=”basic_thumbnail” show_slideshow_link=”0″]

The problem persists if I update NextGEN Gallery to 3.3.5 as well. It appears that my only option is to roll back to WordPress 5.3

  • Hello @fahnoe,

It seems that the plugin is not loading and is letting you see the shortcodes, or is using old shortcodes. Could you please try to re-insert the gallery and see if that works?

If the problem persists, let’s check if it is an existing conflict:
    – Temporarily deactivate all your plugins except NextGen Gallery.
    – Is the problem solved? Then, it was caused by one of your plugins. Please check one by one and find the one causing the problem.
    – If the problem is not solved with the deactivation of the plugins, try changing to a standard WordPress theme, it could be a conflict with your current theme.

Please, keep us posted, we are happy to help!
