• Hey Woo

You have some handy shortcodes for product and category queries. How can I get this to work for attributes also? I am setting things up so that there is an image. Now I would like to show them as grids or whereever convenient.

This is an example of attributes in grid setup manually (Grading) and then categories generated by the built in woo shortcode engine.

Also I used to be able to show my shop with categories first and then products in catalogues. Now shop only shows products but no categories…. Can I display both in catalogue view? I use block theme TT4.

Also when visiting a category, I could get it to show description. Can I do this anymore?

  • Hey there, @hebhansen! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

You have some handy shortcodes for product and category queries. How can I get this to work for attributes also? I am setting things up so that?there is an image. Now I would like to show them as grids or whereever convenient.

We don’t have a shortcode to display attributes like we do for categories. But you can achieve this with the plugin Products By Attributes & Variations for WooCommerce. This plugin is supported by us and you have a 30-day money-back guarantee to test it.

If you want to check other options, you can search on the Plugins > Add New section of your dashboard or on a search engine like Google, for example.

Please note that we do not provide support for third-party plugins, so it is good to check the plugin thoroughly to see if it is reliable. You can find more about this in this guide.

Also I used to be able to show my shop with categories first and then products in catalogues. Now shop only shows products but no categories…. Can I display both in catalogue view? I use block theme TT4.

You can achieve that by going to Appearance > Editor > Templates > WooCommerce > Product catalog, and using the Product Category List block instead of the Product block that is there by default.

You can also customize the looks on the sidebar on the right.

If you prefer you can use the shortcode [product_categories] instead of the block ??

Also when visiting a category, I could get it to show description. Can I do this anymore?

This should show by default on the TT4 theme. Did you make any changes to the Product By Category template?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Product Categories List. Can I show only toplevel categories initially. And then children as people browse further down? Is there a way to change image and txt layout? Fx add title as txt overlay on the image to make it more icon’ish. Is there a way to have columns for the list…

Does it filter out categories that does not have products. Say I jump to black. Then only categories with products included in that search should show. A category filter so to say

Why are categories not in Querry loop? and Attributes…

Woo used to be able to show top level cats wherever I was, meaning cats within the category I am in. Changing Dynamically. How do I do that?

    List is static

    Short code is static

Yes I made changes to Cat template, but it never showed desciption of cats

Thank you for reaching back, clarifying things further @hebhansen .

As I understand, you’d like to present categories at the site in a bespoke way, with just core WooCommerce blocks.

What about going ahead with creating a group of the needed blocks for creating the desired look-n-feel, and then turning it into a reusable one, for applying to the various templates of the site?

For features that you’d find useful but are not available yet, feel free to submit a feature request.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions about this matter, or if we misinterpret your concern in any way. We will be happy to help you further.

Woo had this all along. It’s a dynamic grid of cats showing top level categories of the category you are currently in. I don’t see I can build this in a group and some blocks. If so, what block does this?

It always followed the catalogue grid, nice and easy.

As mentioned, this existed before. If it still does, there is no need for a feature req.

Regarding category description in TT4. Where should this show exactly. Is there a category description block?

    Hey, @hebhansen!

The way things work on FSE and non FSE themes can be a bit different. That’s why it does not look the same.

Soon, the team will start working on the “Category Collection” block, which will be like the “Product Collection” block with lots of controls/settings. That will allow merchants to show any kind of Category List UI.

While this does not happen, you might want to consider using a classic theme.

Regarding category description in TT4. Where should this show exactly. Is there a category description block?

You need to add the block to the Products by Category template, which you can find on Appearance > Editor > Templates

Here’s a video of me doing this on my site: https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/video/28855525

I hope this was clarifying. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

Looking forward to Category collection block. Maybe just build on the querry block and then expand it to also feature Attibutes and Categories. As of now Posts, Pages and Products can be querried. That way you can benefit from the settings already in place for the Querry. The four images across is a querry for products.

I am denied access to your link. Do you have another way to share. Thx.

    Hey, @hebhansen!

Great suggestion. As my colleague mentioned, please feel free to submit?a feature request if you wish ??

I am denied access to your link. Do you have another way to share. Thx.

I’m sorry about that, it seems the URL was wrong, here’s the correct one.

Let me also share some screenshots ??

Adding it after the Archive Title block is the default, but you can add it wherever you want it to show ??

After adding a new block you can write /term description to search for the description block and add it.

I hope this was clarifying. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful day!
