• I have a ‘Parent group’ which has a subgroup named ‘Child group’.

As long as a user is a member of ‘Child group’ they can see pages restricted to EITHER ‘Child Group’ and ‘Parent group’, and they can see those page names in menus etc. This is how I expect hierarchical groups to behave.

But this hierarchy is not respected when I use a shortcode like this:

    [groups_member group="Parent group"]
This content should be visible to users in both 'Parent Group'
and 'Child Group', but a user who is only in 'Child Group'
    cannot see this content.
    [/groups_member]

Is this just a limitation of the plugin or am I using the wrong shortcode?

Too late to edit that last post (yet again, lol), but I’ve just noticed the same thing happens when using shortcodes from the Files add-on, i.e. a member of a child group doesn’t inherit parent group access.

I’m still stuck on this, if anyone has any ideas ??

    same here,

would be great to add an option for the hierarchical content from the admin panel ??
