Shortcodes and filters not working on template page

  • Hey all! So I am having a really strange problem. I created a completely blank theme page, header footer and loop. The problem is is that the shortcode isn’t working that is working throughout the rest of the site. Neither is remove_filter. The weird thing is that I tried a template that it does work in and it isn’t working in that either. So basically, it’s working throughout the site, just the page that I created in the backend, no matter what template I apply to it, doesn’t work properly. I have double and triple checked that I am using the text editor and that the shortcode is right. Anyone have any ideas at all about this? It’s really boggling my mind. As an example, this isn’t working in my template:

    <?php
	remove_filter('the_content', 'wpautop');
?>

    Also, when I apply filters, it doesn’t work either. It’s treating the shortcodes as if it doesn’t exist. Example:

    echo apply_filters('the_content', get_the_content());

    Does nothing. Just spits the shortcode out as text and doesn’t apply anything at all.
