The shortcodes keep inserting additional p tags before and after the short codes, thus adding more line spacing than desired, and sometimes even a
    which I didn’t insert.

I keep removing but they keep populating back on their own.
Is there a workaround for this so I have tighter copy?

Here is a sample of what it is doing… among other things.

    ‘<p>[one_half]<iframe src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/SwyVcHPPyu8?rel=0&#8243; height=”315″ width=”420″ allowfullscreen=”” frameborder=”0″></iframe></p>
    <p>[/one_half]</p>
    <p> [one_half_last]
    <h1><span style=”color: #ce4018; font-size: xx-large;”>BACK BY ATHLETE DEMAND! 14-Day Coach-Led Detox
    April 8-21</span></h1>
    <h2><span style=”color: #000000; font-size: x-large;”>CLEAN, LEAN, FAST!</span></h2>
<h3><span style=”font-size: x-large;”>We’ve been inundated with requests to keep the detox going. Your wish is our command!</span></h3>
    <p>[/one_half_last]</p>’

(hope that is what you meant by a back tick)

Apparently your theme has added some additional p tags.

You could try to leave no spaces between you shortcodes, like so:

    [one_half]
    first piece of content
    [/one_half][one_half_last]
    second piece of content
    [/one_half_last]
