Shortcode Values

I was looking to figure out how to override the default values selected in the settings.

Suppose I want to have a slider or masonry style to a gallery, what do I need to add to the shortcode to make this work

ie [gallery type=”masonry”

I tried this and it did not work and I could not find documentation regarding this but I image it must exist.
