Shortcode showing wrong subtitles on Blog Home

  • I’m using Secondary Title on my Twenty Twenty Three blog, but when trying to switch from “Auto Show” (which messes with recent comments) to shortcode (i.e. [secondary_title]), there appears the same secondary title under each post on Blog Home.

    This means every blog post which actually has a secondary title is displayed with the same secondary title (and not the one which should be assigned to the specific post).

    When opening the single post however the correct secondary title is displayed along with it.

    Is this a known issue and if yes how can I solve the problem?

    So, when you use the shortcode, it displays a wrong secondary title on your home (index) page? I’m asking because here, it doesn’t display anything at all. This must have something to do with WP’s relatively new FSE templates (<!-- wp:post-excerpt /-->)/

    Correct, I used [secondary_title] and on each of the 10 posts on my Blog Home exactly the same secondary title is displayed. Let’s assume the subtitle of my last post is “Hello”, then all posts on my Blog Home will have “Hello” as a secondary title.

    That’s strange since Gutenberg blocks (and that’s what’s rendered on the front-page) should strip shortcodes (unless it’s the actual shortcode block).

    Can you please tell me where exactly you’re using the shortcode? I’m testing it by adding the shortcode into the first paragraph so it’s automatically added to the core/post-excerpt block, as seen here.

    I added a paragraph block below the post title on Blog Home and it worked… kind of at least, because there’s always the same secondary title.

    I’m sorry, I did not manage to reproduce the issue you haved.

    Do you think it’s possible to send me a .zippped-Version of your actual site for me to download so I can tinker around until it works?
