Shortcode showing

@wiseupmarketing I cannot see any sign of this Shortcode in the page, but it seems the plugin is active. When adding a Shortcode, please check that you’re using a HTML or Shortcode block/element that will run the Shortcode.

Perhaps add some identifying text around or nearby to assist with locating this (e.g. “XXXXXX”)?

Can you point me to where you think it should appear?

I have to remove the code as its a live site
i am using elementor – does that cause any issues?

@wiseupmarketing It looks like the Shortcode is not running, rather it is treated as standard text. Please look for either a Shortcode or HTML block or element and then try again with that.

If it is in the footer, then use the HTML Widget with the same Shortcode you have there.

I can remain online so you can briefly update it and I’ll be able to tell you more.

@wiseupmarketing I noticed that the quotes are incorrect – they are angled when they should be straight (" not ”). Here is the Shortcode corrected:

[reviews_rating theme="badge tiny" class="no-outline" link="write review" limit=0]

Still, I would have expected this to run properly in the footer – but it may have defaulted to the one set in the main Setup tab.

Please try with this specific code?

@wiseupmarketing And if you want to test with something a little more hidden, please use:

or just:

<div style="display: none;">[reviews_rating rating]</div>

If you use the browser’s inspector (F12), you will be able to see the output there (or Ctrl U to view the source code).

I think the general problem is the theme or widget not running the shortcode at all.

@wiseupmarketing Please try “Custom HTML” or “Text” as a widget. These are one of the core WordPress widgets and should support this Shortcode.

I am using the wordpres custom html widget within elementor
it was working fine, and i went back to upadte to theme=”badge tiny fill”

but now its not working again

@wiseupmarketing I am getting “Service Unavailable” whenever I try to look at the website…

It could be a caching issue or something else odd that is going on. The Shortcode is not running at all so they’ll be something other than the plugin interfering with its display (caching service, lack of support in the theme, another plugin).

@wiseupmarketing I found there is a specific Shortcode element that can be used here which will recognise the text string as a shortcode and not just plain text. When used to replace the Custom HTML fixes this issue.
