shortcode not working within Custom Sidebars

I updated tablepress this morning from version 1.8.1 to 1.9 and as a result, all tables that I have embedded in my sidebars were no longer displayed (I use a plugin call “Custom Sidebars”). Instead, only the shortcode text was displayed. I was able to roll back tablepress to 1.8.1 so my site is fixed. Can you tell me why this happened? I like to keep my software current, but will now be reluctant to update tablepress in the future because of this occurrence.
