Shortcode not working with get_the_content()

you might need to apply ‘the_content’ filter:

apply_filters( 'the_content', get_the_content() );

or use do_shortcode():

do_shortcode( get_the_content() );

Applying the filters works a treat (as does the do_shortcode() fix) – now I’ve read it in that context the blurb at the bottom for the Function Reference for get_the_content() makes sense.
