Here also, installing the plugin and the google API credentials without a problem.
Google Photo Album ID Helper is left blank no albums are shown in the list.

Anyone?

I was having the same problem for weeks. I ended up looking for an alternative that turned out to provide detailed documentation on authenticating with Google Photos. The step I was missing was enabling the “Photos Library API”. Once I enabled that, the plugin started working for me. I recommend you take a look there.
