I had been using the shortcode, with options, in a Custom HTML widget for some time, but after I updated to 1.1.2 it stopped working. It still works in text widgets but this isn’t as flexible.

  • Hi,

Shortcodes don’t work by default in Custom HTML Widgets, but you can add a line of code to your theme which will enable them. See this link (Method 2):

Huh… I’m confused about why it was working previously then, but thanks for your help.

Yeah, the same happened to me. It worked before, but not after the update.

As a workaround, I have created a custom widget in my custom plugin and added the shortcode via the widget’s code. Worked fine.

    Hi, @nudeworldorder and @zviera.

Thanks for your replies. As mentioned, Custom HTML widgets don’t support WordPress shortcodes by default (and should only support HTML) and so the issue you’re experiencing with the latter no longer working after an update could be because shortcodes working before was actually a “bug” that the update “fixed” or corrected.

After the update, the expected behaviour of shortcodes not working in custom HTML is now true, so you will need to manually enable them via Method 2 in the link above.

I hope this makes sense. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards and keep safe,
