shortcode for post excerpt

    Hello!

    So i am using mailpoet to send email notifications whenever a new “article” is posted i have them set up more like alerts. so it’s just the most recent article that was published that is sent.

    I manage to get the title of it to use as subject with the help of this shortcode : [newsletter:post_title] but i also need to put the post excerpt in the subject of the email. it is one to 3 words max, but i can’t find any shortcodes for that.

    is there any way to retrieve the except with a shortcode or by creating a custom one ?

    There is. You can actually use the Automatic Latest Content Widget to retrieve the article and select the options so that it just shows the Title and the Excerpt.

    Hello, Thank you very much for the response.

    I am well aware about the widget and i am using it as well. but i want to add it in the subject of the email next to the title.

    ALERT : [newsletter:post_title] – “Excerpt”

    my Excerpt is only 2 words long and it contains the location

    is that possible ?

    This is not something that’s possible by default, no.

    This would require some customization via PHP on your end.
