Is there a shortcode for the calendar? The way that the solution is coded right now does not allow me to put the calendar into a hierarchy on a menu e.g. /news/calendar/ it requires the calendar to be the top menu item /calendar. I am looking for a shortcode that can help me move the calendar to where we want it on our site.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello!

There is currently no shortcode as part of The Events Calendar Shortcode for a calendar view. If you are looking for a listing view, you could certainly create a new page /news/calendar (news page, then calendar page with ‘news’ set as the parent), then put the [ecs-list-events] shortcode on it.

    Does that help?

the menu would look like page/news/calendar
but the calendar is still sitename.com/calendar

    Correct?

I’m not sure what you mean, but the shortcode could be placed on whichever page (or pages) you’d like (ie. on news/calendar). You could also look into rewrite rules or redirects to make one page ‘look’ like another in the menu etc.

Hope that helps, if not let me know!

Thanks – I am wrestling with the short codes now. The list of events on the event page are coming from the calendar and are a chaotic mess. Not sure what to do with that yet.

These ecs shortcodes kind of suck.
I want a list of upcoming events in ASC order for this year with no past events:
    [ecs-list-events limit=’10’ order=’asc’ past=’no’ year=’2017′ thumb=’yes’ contentorder=’title, date, venue, excerpt, thumb’ ]

You would think this works, but it does not. year=’2017′ does not work – every event listed was 2014.

    <h2>This Weeks Events</h2>
    [ecs-list-events days=’7′ limit=’10’ order=’asc’ thumb=’yes’ contentorder=’title, date, venue, excerpt, thumb’]

Nope – lists events through April 5th outside of 7 days as of today.

    I must completely mis-understand how these work….

Options like year and days are only available in the pro version. While the main website page and the description here on wp.org did indicate they were pro-only options the documentation on the website did not, but this has now been updated:

If you do have the pro version feel free to create a support request here with your license key:

    Sorry for any confusion!

I have the pro version and they don’t work there either.

BTW – upgrading to see if that works is not a good idea if the shortcodes are not working in the free version. Why would someone invest money in a shortcode to make the solution work? Events Calendars are interesting and compelling. If you buy all the shortcodes and your shortcodes you end up spending $600 a year. Doesn’t that seem a tad bit off for a calendar?

Feel free to create a ticket on the contact page, and we can see why things like year are not working:

This way I can connect to your site temporary if needed and take a look. One other thing you can try is not copy/pasting any example shortcodes but instead typing it out, to make sure any “special” single or double quotes don’t mess up the output.

If you got all the add-ons Modern Tribe has created as well as this one it can certainly add up, but if you’re really using all the features (various shortcodes, community events so people can submit events, etc etc), certainly a lot cheaper than hiring a developer to create (and maintain) it for you custom.
