I pasted a shortcode line in a page. After updating and viewing the page, only the shortcode line is visible in the said page and not the expected result, which should be a slideshow (a la youtube window). This is the example of the shortcode line: [houzz=https://www.houzz.com/pro/viridis/espaces-viridis w=300]
I manage another wordpress web and shortcodes work without any problems in that case; curiously, both webs have identical versions of wordpress installed with the same photocrati theme. I’ve tried a WP forum suggestion of deactivating my plugins, clearing the cache and trying to make it work that way, but no dice. is there something obvious I’ve overlooked? Kind of a newby here, so I’m at a loss with this one.

Any suggestions, help or insights would be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    P.

I feel like a dunce Esmi! What a pile of <expletive>. Well, you win a hundreds pounds of spaghetti for figuring this one out! So, in other words, their shortcode generator ‘compiles’ (for lack of a better term) only for non-self hosted WordPress sites. So, I guess I’m toast for now.

Again, many many thanks for all your time and effort.

Glad I could help – although I’m sorry we didn’t have a better solution for you. Perhaps you could contact houzz.com and ask them if they have any plans to extend their service to self-hosted WordPress sites via a plugin.

That’s exactly what I’m doing now. It kind of limits their clients’ (i.e. a guy like me) potential to promote their work? Seems ridiculous to me? But, anyway, at least I learned something valuable today.

all the best Esmi and friends.

I was wondering. Since the generators of the non-hosting WP shortcode also offer an html code version, can I use this plugin to convert the html code to shortcode?

    Plugin name: Insert Html Snippet

    Merci,
    P.

I’ve not used that plugin myself but it does look promising. It’s certainly worth a try.

    By George, it worked!

Esmi, the Insert Html Snippet plugin successfully converted the html code ‘snippet’, and the rest as they say is history.

This one can be solved as a worlaround.

    Un gros merci à tous!

PS: I worked 10 years an escalation techy for Softimage Inc (3d & XSI products for FX, film and games). And, I really appreciate and recognize your prompt assistance, interest and passion!
