• I am a newbie to WP but have been able to use shortcodes before. I just upgraded the the pro version of “Product Catalog” and can not get the shortcode to work.

I created one product and one product and tried to view it by putting the catalogs shortcode on a page but there is nothing there.

Can anyone direct me? Thank you in advance.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi jburnard,

I could not find any shortcode on the page that you sent us. Could you please let us know the shortcode that you are using to display your catalogue?

    Hi,

Thank you for the reply. Here is the code I’ve added but it does not show up.

    [product-catalogue id=’2′]

    Thanks again,

    Jim

I have the same problem with a site I’m trialling, cannot get a catalogue to show. I have tried upgrading to the 7 day free trial in case that would work.

    https://barnarddalecottage.com/kbwp/engines-for-sale/

Have no other plug ins and have treid several different themes.

jburnard, not sure if this will help you but I sort of have it working. If you copy the shortcode from the catalogue setup page, and paste into the page you want it on, it appears in a box and then works. Still playing with it. If you type in the shortcode by hand it doesn’t work.

If anyone has a better understanding of this I still don’t think it’s working properly for me.

The page it is sort of working on is this one:
    https://barnarddalecottage.com/kbwp/boat-storage/

The categories come up as large icons, once you click through to a sub category it seems to start working ok.

Really want to get this working correctly as it is exactly what I wanted.

    Hi @jburnard

It looks like there may be an issue with the quotes in the shortcode. Could you try pasting in this exact code:
    [product-catalogue id='2']

    Hi @roohairy ,

If you want the catalogue/product list to display immediately, go to Options -> Basic and scroll down to ‘Catalog Overview Mode’ and make sure it’s set to ‘None’.

Thanks for the reply guys. I tried pasting the code as above but still no luck.

    Thank you.

What I have found out is that there’s something wrong with the short code from the documentation, if you copy and paste it doesn’t work. But if you copy and past from the table of catalogues, the short code does work – it appears in a table but you can copy it again out of that then delete the table. Wierd, guessing maybe there is a visually similar character in the documentation but a different ascii code or something like that.

Ah nice find! Unfortunately that is where I was grabbing the code from and still no luck. But, good to know. Thanks for the update.

As suggested by others as well, it could be due to some formatting being added to the quotes in the shortcode or some weird ASCII character that’s messing up the shortcode and hence the catalog being not displayed. To make sure you don’t have any formatting we suggest you add the shortcode by manually typing and using ” or ‘ for the shortcode arguments. Also, ensure that you test the shortcode on a blank page with the default editor before using it with any visual composer or page builders.

I am experiencing this same issue. I tested the free version, it was working fine, so I purchased a full license, and now when I use the shortcode, the page goes entirely blank (it shows the header, and that’s all, no other page content or footer). When I remove the shortcode, everything else on the page re-appears – except the catalogue, which is what I need. Any suggestions?

    Hi leela84,

Could you send us a link to your catalog page so that we can see and troubleshoot what might be causing this? If you want to send us the link in private, you can email us at [email protected]
