There was an earlier post about faulty IDs (now closed) but I think this is different. This relates to the latest version 5.9.3.

As an example, this is displayed [contact-form-7 id=”5afb84b” title=”Contact Form”] on the form edit page when it should be [contact-form-7 id=”427″ title=”Contact Form”] If I use the latter on a web page the form appears BUT on submit it fails to send – a rotating wheel appears. Email from the website is working. The odd id looks like a colour code. On looking in the database it appears to be the value of the first few characters of a metakey called _hash.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I am experiencing a similar issue. I tried updating the page with the ‘new’ form ID and that doesn’t work either!

this is displayed [contact-form-7 id=”5afb84b” title=”Contact Form”] on the form edit page

This is normal. See the v5.8 release announcement for details.

on submit it fails to send

This is not normal. What other plugins and theme do you use on the site?

I use a large number of other common plugins including

    Contact Form DB

    and

    WP Mail SMTP

I have a development copy of the site I can do test on.

Are there any diagnostics I can do?

I’d missed the release note about the new ID format.

I deactivated Contact Form DB and now things are working.

I hadn’t tried that before because of what appeared to eb a fault with the ID.
