At the moment, our products will only be shipped to local customers. But because we have some Islands in our country our shipping-provider wants a additional fee (island charge) which adds 13 € to the shipping price.

To detect a island we used a list of postcodes and added the fee if the postcode was in the list. (thanks to the APG Weight and Postcode/State/Country Shipping Plugin)

But now with the new Shipping-Zone feature we would like to get rid of this plugin.

So I created two shipping zones:

    • Germany
    • Germany (Island)

Both have the same shipping methodes, but different prices in each zone.

I made two videos to show the configuration and result of it:
    VIDEO: Shippingzone Configuration
    VIDEO: Cart don’t detect postcode

    What did I wrong?

    Additional hint:
You will recognize in the In the video about ‘Shippingzone Configuration’, that in the second shippingzone is ‘Germany’ as zone, too. I tried to remove germany, but got the same result. No reaction in the shopping-cart.

The more local zones need to be at the top of the list of zones to be chosen first. In WC > System status > Tools you can enable debug mode to tell you the zone being selected.

It took me some time to understand what you mean with “more local zones” but now I understand.

I had to move my second list with the postcodes up, so that this gets the first entry. Because if the first entry is just the country and nothing more, WooCommerce thinks it meet already all possible conditions. If not, it tries to look up for another zone if possible.

    Thank you.
