Shipping is wrong price

    Hi there, I can’t figure out what I have done wrong setting up shipping.

    I only have one shipping class called “merch.” And one product, which I did apply the shipping class to.

    Under shipping zones, I have two – one for US and one for International.

    Under US, I have “flat rate” ($5) enabled and “local pickup” enabled.

    Under International, I just have “flat rate” at $20 enabled.

    Yes, in both places, I have entered the price not only to the zone default but also the shipping class “merch” line items as well.

    When I go to buy a t-shirt, and enter my local shipping address, shipping is coming out at $10! (And yes I checked to be sure there was only one t-shirt in my cart)

    What am I doing wrong? Why is shipping not $5?

    Hi there,

    It sounds like the issue is with this point: in both places, I have entered the price not only to the zone default but also the shipping class “merch” line items as well.

    For the shipping method, the base cost and the shipping class cost will be added — it sounds like you have both the base and shipping class set as $5, so that would be $5 + $5 = $10 total. With your current setup, you could just remove the base cost and set the cost only for the shipping class.

    Alternatively, if you only have a single product, then you don’t really need to use shipping classes at all. You could just set the base cost at $5, and leave everything else blank. However, if you might add other products with different shipping costs in the future though, then it might be good to keep the shipping class set up the way you have it.

    Thank you, that was it! I didn’t realize the zone settings for each class were ON TOP of existing base. I thought it was instead of. All sorted. Thanks!!
