Shipping Cost is to high

How do I adjust the shipping cost for a product I’m trying to sell.

You can use shipping classes to provide different rates to different products. You can set up shipping classes under WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Shipping Classes. Once the shipping class is created, you will need to assign the shipping class to the product(s) you want to apply the different shipping rate to. You can refer to this official documentation for the steps to set up shipping classes.

How do I adjust the shipping cost for a product I’m trying to sell.

You can try using the plugin – Quantity Discounts & Pricing for WooCommerce or Discount Rules for WooCommerce or Quantity Discounts & Pricing for WooCommerce or choose one from this list that suits your requirement.

Thank you. I went and created a shipping class according to the instructions. I assigned the shipping class to the product and it didn’t work. It still shows the same shipping options as before as though I didn’t create and apply the shipping class. Why didn’t it work?

I understand that you have followed the guidance of @kaavyaiyer to create shipping classes, however the shipping is not updating as it remains the same as what it was prior to creating the class and assigning this to the product, this correct?

In order to have a better understanding of your Shipping settings, please can you share a screenshot of the following areas of your dashboard:

• WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping
• WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Shipping Classes
• Products, Edit the product that is assigned the shipping class > Product Data, Shipping tab (screenshot below for reference)

Additionally, so that we can gain a better understanding of your sites environment, please can you share a copy of your sites System Status Report, which you can find via WooCommerce?→?Status. Select?Get system report?and then?Copy for support.

Meanwhile, checking your site’s SSR, I can see that you have an outdated database version while your WooCommerce core is already running 7.3.0. Please update your WooCommerce database by going to WooCommerce > Status > Tools > Update Database.

We’ll be waiting for the other requested screenshots as well.

Since I did post a screenshot screenshot I know how to do it and do not the screenshot service links. I did not know that @roxannestoltz asked for more than one screenshot. I did a screenshot based on the example she gave and didn’t realize she was asking for other ones as well.

Hmm. I have been using that screenshot service for years without a problem. And I just double checked using two different browsers and my phone. I was able to view the screenshots on both browsers and my phone. I don’t know why you can’t. But I will do them again. They’re below.

Thank you for providing the screenshots. You will also need to configure ‘Shipping Class costs’ for the specific shipping class you created under each of your Shipping Zones.

For eg. I have created a Shipping class named ‘Budget-friendly’ and have assigned a few products to that class. Now, under my shipping zones, for the US zone, I have already setup a flat rate shipping method. I need to edit the shipping method, which will then allow me to configure the shipping class cost for the US as per this screenshot. If you have multiple shipping classes, you will be able to configure each of those costs separately under each shipping zone.

Now, if I add a ‘Budget-friendly’ product to my cart, my shipping cost (for U.S) will show as $1.50. For all other products (not belonging to ‘Budget-friendly’ class), shipping costs would be $2.

Thanks to @kaavyaiyer for sharing the next steps to be followed in configuring the shipping class cost for the Shipping Class Drawing Near Book 1.

Furthermore, please make sure that you set the Calculation Type to Per Class, so that shipping would be charged for each shipping class individually.

Let us know if that works on your end.

Thanks for your help, but it didn’t work. I have no idea why. Maybe I’ll try to watch a video on YouTube or something or I may just switch to some other commerce plugin that’s easier to use. I’m just spending way too much time on something that’s not working.

I’m sure there’s people who like using Woocommerce, but it seems too complex. Perhaps your developers can work on a way to simplify the way the plugin works.

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues getting this to work as expected.

If you have followed the above steps to create the shipping class and assign it to your product(s), and it is still not working, it could be something interfering with these settings.

I suspect this may be a caching issue, this being said, please can you try purge your caches.

If that makes no difference, then please can you try disable all security plugins and see if that makes any difference.

If you still have no luck, please can you share more information, such as:

• Error messages on checkout (if any)
• What happens during the checkout process?
• What shipping classes are you seeing? If any at all.
