One of our client have been using WP eCommerce since v3.6.x and keep updating that to latest version as and when available.

BUT your latest version 3.8.14.1 just messed up everything. Initially we only had Checkout Fields as Shipping Address. While your new version has Billing & Shipping both. So to overcome this, we have to clear database table of checkout form & re-activate plugin in order to get new default set of checkout fields.

This is not enough, we also got BIG issues in Checkout Process for users like,

    – State Validation even if user enter State.
    – Please select one of the available shipping options, then we can process your order.
    – Shipping Charges were not forwarded to PayPal. It was just charging Product Price & Tax. In case where Flat Shipping was set to 0.00 & added at Product Level.

We spent week to overcome this but last issue of Shipping Charges didn’t got solved.

This is NOT in the case of this client Only.. Other projects where we installed your plugin last year.. they also got same issues for Shipping Price not charged at PayPal when Flat Shipping was added at Product Level.

So finally, ONLY option we have to roll plugin back to 3.8.13.1 to overcome this.

Please do test your latest version specially with the case when,

    – Shipping is Enabled with Flat Rate using Individual product shipping.
    e.g. https://docs.getshopped.org/documentation/individual-product-shipping/

This doesnt work in your latest version.

I just want to bring this to your attention as I have found many forum / places where people are facing similar issues with your latest version.

    Thanks,
    Hardik Vyas.

  • have also tried disabling all plug ins, using a default theme and flushing the cache – still not fixed.. we’re taking orders so unfortunately we’re losing money now on a tight margin, don’t want to turn the shop off as we’ve just spent money on a marketing campaign… please help, thanks

jamescb0, the timing is consistent with our problem. Updating to 3.8.14.3 does not help, and in fact causes other issues for our site, so I’m back to running 3.8.13.4. This is quickly becoming an emergency, as we ship products internationally, which involves costly shipping.

I’ve tried restoring plugins from backup to no avail. And I’ve spoken to tech support at our host, and they claim that it’s not an issue on their end, that it must be a plugin.

Please help! What happened last night to break the communication between WPEC and Paypal?!

    @jamescb0,

I don’t know if this will help you but you can set some basic shipping charges from inside your PayPal account. It allows you to set flat rate shipping based on order value and % shipping based on order value.

It’s not perfect but maybe it’s better to get some shipping charged rather than none. Two of my three affected sites are flat rate shipping so this works well.

Only thing to watch is that when they fix it you’ll need to undo the change quickly to avoid charging shipping twice, once from your website and once by PayPal.

I just received this back from PayPal – they responded very quickly to my emailed problem report.

We are aware of an issue affecting the variable handling_charge not working at the moment and we are working towards resolving it as soon as possible.
So before fixing this issue , As a temporary workaround you could replace the parameter “handling_cart” with another parameter “handling_1” or adding shipping profiles to your PayPal account. It does not apply in all cases as it can only be used in case of a single fee across the board.

I just did a test and it looks like the problem is fixed.

    @trouble-buster

Nope… it started when I updated the plugin to the newest version earlier this morning. Sucks when you update like you’re supposed to and the developers didn’t test the new update before releasing it…

Ope… just seen your post, Toshi. Nice researching. Wow… I’m sorry I assumed it was a smaller development company (get shopped), but the largest online payment processor in the world is the one that is being extremely unprofessional and incompetent. PayPal SUCKS for this. I’m sure it affected more than just us then. Sorry, getshopped.

    Hey guys.
It does seem to be a problem with paypal and not the Plugin.
Please try the solution in the url below as a temporary fix.
    https://plugins.leewillis.co.uk/doc_post/shipping-cost-passed-paypal/

Thanks for all the fix suggestions
It seems to be fixed now.
I phoned PayPal – they’ said they’re compiling a list of all accounts they think have been affected, they will then speak to another dept in the company about what they can offer as compensation and will contact all those they think have been affected hopefully later today

PayPal have now confirmed by email in reply to my problem report that they have fixed this issue. ‘handling_cart’ is now working as normal.

    Hello,

We are still using WP Ecommerce 3.8.13.1 after last issued and rolled back.

Do you suggest upgrading to 3.9.1 ? Has previous issues are solved now?

We have been using this plugin from earlier version.

    Thanks,

We are not aware of any current issues with shipping and PayPal

After a long hiatus I was able to get back to this issue and just went ahead and upgraded to 3.9.1 and the issue appears to be resolved for me. Whether it was a Paypal issue or the plugin I have no idea, but all is good again for now…
