    Hi,

(Sorry if this has been asked before; I couldn’t find the exact situation in the forum backlog)

Some customers on our site have been unable to complete their orders as their shipping address is being detected/registered.

I’ve attempted to troubleshoot this, but I can’t easily replicate the issue because the orders get cancelled or abandoned without an address.

I wonder if it might be because “Locations not covered by your other zones” has no shipping rate attached to it. So, if they enter their address in a nonstandard way that the site doesn’t recognise, it puts them into that zone, and they can’t complete their order because there’s no shipping method.

If add a shipping methord to that zone, will it resolve the issue? I’m concerned adding it might override our setting to only ship to addresses within New Zealand.

I’m not incredibly familiar with WooCommerce so it may be a simply fix. Any suggestions?

    Hello @nzbronte,

    Thank you for reaching out!

Just to confirm we’re on the same page, some customers are not able to checkout because there’s no shipping method available for their address, correct?

I wonder if it might be because “Locations not covered by your other zones” has no shipping rate attached to it. So, if they enter their address in a nonstandard way that the site doesn’t recognise, it puts them into that zone, and they can’t complete their order because there’s no shipping method.

If that’s the case, then yes, this seems to be the issue. When there isn’t a dedicated shipping zone for a customer’s billing/shipping address, WooCommerce will display whatever shipping method you’ve added for non-covered regions.

Even if a customer enters a country that has a shipping region designated, but you’ve restricted that shipping region to specific postal codes, if the entered postal code doesn’t match, WooCommerce will assume the customer resides in a non-covered region.

If add a shipping methord to that zone, will it resolve the issue? I’m concerned adding it might override our setting to only ship to addresses within New Zealand.

Your shipping regions, such as ‘New Zealand,’ will have higher priority. However, as mentioned earlier, if you’ve restricted the region to specific postal codes and the customer enters a postal code that isn’t listed, they will be considered in a region not covered by your zones (please check the screenshot below).
