Shifting Right/Left

  • Okay so this isn’t a major issue yet it is so noticeable that it is starting to really bother me.

    Basically certain pages of my site have everything shifted very slightly to the right (or the contrary, the other pages have been shifted slightly to the right).

    I noticed it because it didn’t seem smooth transitioning from page to page then I realised in the TopBar, my left most menu item – and then I noticed the site logo shift. On certain pages with content (i.e. home, contact page) they are left-shifted. On other pages (and also with new pages as I tested it by creating a dummy page with just a test image in) everything is right-shifted (or perhaps smaller total width?).

    I normally have my site on maintenance mode as it is years from development but until this is solved I’ll open it up if someone wants to take a look. I’ve tried it in Safari and Chrome (same error): https://www.studentsurgeon.com

    Any help will be most appreciated!

    TL;DR: TopBar menu links and site logo on some pages is very slightly moved rightwards and on others leftwards (or perhaps max width is different). E.g. ‘Home’ is same as ‘Contact Us’ but different from ‘Features’ and ‘Corporate & Business’. Help?

  • I”m not seeing this issue. Could you link to a page that’s displaying how you want and a page that’s not so I can see a side by side comparison?

    It’s not so much how I want or not. If you go to the home/index page, and then keep your eyes glued to the left margin of the TopBar link “Portal Login” and my site logo. Then click the “Features” page. Everything seems to move to the right by about 10px? Side by side comparison won’t highlight the difference. You need to load one page one after the other. The top bar should be exactly the same but it moves slightly?

    Are you talking about the browser scroll bar? that would be there if your page is large enough to scroll and it would not be there if there was no scroll.

    No t’s not a browser scroll. Sorry I’m not sure how to explain it any more. It is very subtle but an eye for detail or just being pedantic and it is frustrating.

    I don’t know how to describe it other than while the page is the same size, all the content is moved to the right on some pages as if I’ve added left-padding 5px (as an example) on some pages.

    Can you tell me what browser and operating system you are using?

    Can you open the site up so it’s not on coming soon?
