• Hello.

I try to make a site devoted to the short therapies and hypnosis.

I’m looking for a module of contents sharing : textual files (Word, openoffice, pdf, etc), images but perhaps also of videos etc. Like a library fully accessible only to members.

The goal is sharing courses and research betwenn professors and searchers. To use the ” site” WordPress to establish a platform of discussion and sharing.

In the same order of idea, being a little beginner with wordpress, I also seek to know how various groups of users (with different rights) could speak in sections, a little as in a forum.

    Is this possible?

Lastly, I seek a module which can indicate on a little map where are the members, but I will make a separate post for that. Thank to who would help me.

To have a good representation of the situation, you can imagine that the people who will share courses use Word documents for example, and are not mandataroly informed users.

They are not able to use a FTP client. And they are not either supposed to have access codes.

Ideally, a kind of sharing contents / library plugin would be the most easy to use.

I found several plugins which apparently upload very well some contents : Upload +, WP Easy uploader, Easy UpMe, WP-FileManager.

But I do not know if they allow easily sharing contents by beginner users ? How do they function? Are the attached documents available in the posts as the form of bonds? I find many ” pictures librairies” , but no “general libraries”.

Though I think someone has already use WP to share contents among private members ?

    PS :

It s only for legal uses.

Well I found this : WP Easy Uploader who do the folowing things :

    “Current Features

    * Upload any type of file to either the standard Uploads directory (just as images do when you are creating posts and pages) or to a path of your choosing.
    * Manual paths are automatically created if they don’t exist.
    * Easily upload plugins directly to the plugins directory and theme files directly to the themes directory.
    * You can select to have archives automatically extracted to their destination. This means that plugins and themes will be taken care of for you, but it also means that you can zip up a large set of files and upload them quickly into a folder on your site. Currently zip, tar, gz, tar.gz, tgz, and tar.bz2 archives are supported.
    * Options for overwriting existing files, renaming the fle if a file with that name already exists (or if overwriting fails), removal of the archive after file extraction, and forcing extracted files to be contained in a folder.”

But what I would is this :

    Planned Features

    * Customizable permissions to allow for users with privileges below Administrator to upload files. My idea is for Administrators to have full access to all the uploader’s functionality while people below Administrator won’t have access to upload themes, plugins, or to manual paths and won’t be able to overwrite files or extract archives.
    * If the above is implemented, I’d like to provide a menu of options for tailoring what minimum access level is required to access each function.
    * Also if the first item is implemented, I’d like to add logging in order to keep track of who uploaded what and when. This would be useful for keeping track of anyone (such as a contributor) who is using the file space inappropriately.”

And there this is not implemented !

Does anyone know some plugin who do that please ? ??

Well, a little up for my topic. Is anyone can help me please ?

I finally found the solution :

Simply use the existing library but use a plugin like user-access-manager or role-scoper ton smartly custom the rights of the users. ??

    Topic resolved.
