Sharing a post doesn't work correctly (Facebook)

  • I ran into this little issue while testing social media sharing (Facebook).

    The site uses the image format for posts.

    When user shares a blogpost via the -Share- button it does not work correctly.
    When the Facebook popup window opens, the current post is not shared. It seems the photo is taken from the oldest post and the text is taken from another post as well.

    Hello,

    The Facebook plugin actually queries a number of images, usually the most relevant to the page URL.

    The plugin doesn’t actually share URLs for the actual image, but the URL of the current gallery you are in. This is more useful for those who use categories.

    We are working on including the option to link directly to images in a new release coming soon.

    I have just updated to the latest version which is working quite beautifully, but the social media buttons are still not working propoperly. When I share it grabs random decription text and photos from the other part of the gallery. This is a really important function which I was hoping was going to be included in the new release. Any word?

    We have not yet included the option for single photo sharing, but we are working on including the option to link directly to images in a new release coming soon.

    Can you please tell me if the new release will also fix the same issue when you try to share via the other social media and email links too (not just Facebook)? I find that it pops open a new email, Tweet, etc. but it only grabs the site’s description text, not even a link. I set this theme up for a client expecting that they’d be able to share individual images.

    Not sure if we have the exact same problem but here’s what I did;
    I styled the share icon on posts to disappear by making it white with the following code .share-button label {
    border-color: #FFFFFF;
    background: #FFFFFF !important;
    }
    I then turned on Share Buttons for Posts, and added share buttons to each post
