The shares do not show on the share buttons in Firefox or Firefox Nightly.

They do show on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Problem occurs across several sites with different themes, ruling out related possibilities.

This has been an ongoing problem for years, lasting weeks to a month at a time but i think this is the longest, through several Jetpack updates i.e. several months.

    Using Jetpack version 5.6.1.

Is there a relationship between Jetpack staff and Firefox, this being one of the regular topics?

    As always, thanks in advance.

    Hi there!

I compared the shares appearing on Chrome and Firefox, and they look identical on my end which is a good place to start.

Can you check if your Firefox is running the last version? I’m on the latest version (57.0.3) ??

You may also want to check on your extensions to see if there are any clashes at all. Try disabling all of them and then re-enabling one by one, to pinpoint any potential conflict.

Let me know how you get on and Happy New Year!

Thanks for the speediness but are you sure you used Firefox? It doesn’t show for me with plugins and anti-virus programs disabled. It never worked with the latest Firefox so i switched to Firefox Nightly which is up to date but not a solution.

Yes, I tested it with Firefox and all worked out okay.

It doesn’t show for me with plugins and anti-virus programs disabled.

Have you tried also with the browse extensions being turned off?
Make also sure to test it with Ad-blocks turned off as well to rule out any conflict with them too.

Extensions off too so ad block off. No luck ??

Is there anyone else who could confirm that they see or don’t see shares in Firefox?

    Hey Mike,

The plot thickens! We checked it again with some colleagues and now we all can’t see any shares also on Chrome as well as on Firefox.

I see you upgraded Jetpack to the 5.7. Did you make any other changes at all at the same time?

I trust you already tried temporarily deactivate all your plugins to check if the problem gets fixes that way, but just to stay on the safe side, could you do it once again for me? If it works, then reactivate each plugin one-by-one to find out which one is causing problems.

I’m trying to figuring something out in the meantime, so any insight or info coming from your end is super useful.

Thanks for sorting this out with me ??

    So there’s two problems.

    1.
No shares on Firefox, shares visible on Chrome.

    2.
I upgrade jetpack today, after sharing my problem, and Chrome shares vanish too.

That’s with only Jetpack active. No other plugins although i will reactivate them now.

Not a theme conflict. Same problem on other websites.

    Hi Mike,

Well, the plot thickens again. I can see shares on both Chrome and Firefox (on macOS):

on FF 57.0, where I noticed I need to update: https://cloudup.com/cEdubKyYZuV

and on FF 57.0.3, after updating: https://cloudup.com/c4Ngc5ZCAf0

I did notice that your site hadn’t completed a sync, so I kicked one off.

Are you still not seeing shares?

    Best,

Agatha Christie would’ve loved this ??

I can see on Chrome (despite having done nothing my side to fix it).

    Please explain site sync.

I cannot see on Firefox 59.0a1.

    Mystery deepens…

Whatever the original problem was, which wasn’t plugin conflict, is irrelevant since we can only deal with what’s happened after my Jetpack update yesterday.

There is now conflict with the plugin Autoptimize. That removes share visibility on Chrome.

Even stranger is that if i deactivate Aksimet, the Email share button vanishes.

    Hey Mike,

Even stranger is that if i deactivate Aksimet, the Email share button vanishes.

That’s been done on purpose. The email button would be too vulnerable to spammers without the presence of Akismet ??

There is now conflict with the plugin Autoptimize. That removes share visibility on Chrome.

The plugin is now not active, so I can’t tell you whether the issue is related with a conflict with it or not. In any case, if you suspect the plugin is conflicting, you can contact the plugin author and ask about that.

I can see your shares on FF again as well as on Chrome, so the issue is be gone on my end. I talked with some colleagues and we still reckon that’s a cache-related issue.

if you suspect the plugin is conflicting, you can contact the plugin author and ask about that.

no need, the Autoptimize author is right here ??

Autoptimize “conflicts” are not un-common, for the simple reason that not all CSS/ JS can be optimized. For that reason AO has an admin page where you can configure it to the specific needs of your unique collection of (your) theme and plugins (‘s JS/ CSS). Have a look at AO’s FAQ for info on how to troubleshoot.

    have a nice weekend!

That’s awesome, thanks for the insights and for promptly jumping on this! ??

This has just started happening to me. What was the resolution?

@dingo883 Would you mind please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome?

The issue is most likely a cache-related one, but it’d be useful for us if you create your own thread and leave also your site URL so we can check on that.
