Shared media plugin needed

  • I’m looking for a plugin that lets the super admin share images across the whole multisite network. I’ve tried the ‘Network Shared Media’ plugin but this enforces a site wide sharing of everyone’s images. I just want the one shared folder to be shared. I would still want blogs in the mutlisite to be able to upload their own images as normal to their own directory.

    I have looked everywhere for this type of plugin but can’t find anything. It seems such an obvious feature for a multisite I can’t understand why one hasn’t been made. It would be great.

    Because sites are meant to be separate data-silos, as it were. Separate sites as much as possible.

    Thank you for your quick reply and helpful comments. For our purpose, it would be useful to have a single shared media folder that is managed by the super admin.

    We would use it to make common images and files available to other sites on the wordpress network. This could include things like our own logos and pdf documents that some of the sites might find useful.

    I have seen other people searching for this type of wordpress functionality too. It would really enhance our site.
    Maybe someone will see this opost and attempt to make such a plugin.

    Sure but your purpose and the intent of WP Multisite aren’t in sync ?? Which is the problem.

    Are you 100% sure you need separate SITES for this? Would CPTs work?

    Hi Mika E. Maybe if I explain the scenario it might help.

    Imagine a multisite for a chain of pubs (bars). Each bar manager looks after their own website and can add their own pictures etc.
    The head office (super admin) has a collection of pictures that it would like to make available to others on the multisite so that each bar manager can use the images if they wish on thie own site.

    This is what I have in mind. Does this explain my reasoning?

    Yeah, and it’s one of the cases where Multisite is probably right :/ Bummer. Sorry to say it doesn’t exist hey.
