Shareaholic Buttons / Counters / Related Content Not Showing Properly

  • Shareaholic Buttons and counters for my site do not work except on an iPhone or on MSIE or Safari. With Firefox on Windows, nothing from Shareaholic appears. With Firefox on Linux, the buttons appear, but no counters appear. Related content is hit or miss and when it does work, it shows once related content page. Chrome is also not showing Shareaholic buttons or related content correctly. Safari works fine.

    I am using CloudFlare with Rocket Loader turned OFF – I know Rocket Loader does not work with Shareaholic. My site is CloudFlare Railgun enabled.

    I am using MAXCDN as well. I have w3 Total Cache installed, but it is only to use MAXCDN – I have all caching turned OFF.

    I do have tickets outstanding, but no one is responding, and this has been going on for months now.

    I’m running the latest version of Shareaholic.

    Devinemily, temporarily, I’m running a different share plugin where the counters work on all browsers. If you need me to do something, I can turn that off and reactivate Shareaholic.

    What would be the timeframe you would need? 24 hours, 48, 72? I want to do it during a relatively quiet time.

    @devitor We can arrange to look at it right when you enable. Perhaps sometime Monday?

    Shaareholic is back on for our Monday (Memorial Day) troubleshooting.

    @devitor – Can you please check this morning for me? I’m seeing your counters back on, but want to confirm you are seeing the same on your end as well. Let me know – thanks!

    I checked just now after publishing a story. No change in the situation re: Share Counters. Firefox fails on installed Linux and Windows. It works on Linux Live CDs/Dvd/USB. Safari works all platforms. Chrome works only on iOS. MSIE works.

    Hi @devitor – We’re still troubleshooting this one. It seems on windows the share buttons do load, but it takes an extremely long time (5 seconds after the page is fully loaded). We’re looking into why this happens on windows. Stay tuned!

    @devitor – One more question: Have you tried multiple computers running Windows? In other words, can you reproduce this in the same browsers on another computer?

    I had two Windows machines here before I moved one to Linux and it was happening on both of them.

    Currently, the problem affects Firefox on ALL OS’s except for a live Linux CD/DVD/USB and it affects Chrome on Windows.

    Chrome on IOS works;
    Chrome/Chromium on Linux works.
    Safari IOS and Windows works.
    MSIE works.

    Okay, thanks @devitor. We’re still having trouble reproducing this, but we’ll keep digging!
